What happened
Westchester County reported 38 confirmed Legionnaires' disease cases and 2 deaths over summer 2025 - roughly a 50% increase over the prior year. The two people who died lived in White Plains and New Rochelle. Cases were spread across the county, with a cluster of five identified in Yonkers, where the state used its cooling-tower registry to sample about a dozen towers within a two-mile area.
