What happened
Wayne County Health, Human and Veterans Services, working with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, investigated Legionnaires' disease at Allegria Village, a continuing care retirement community in Dearborn, Michigan. Two residents who became ill in June and July 2025 were hospitalized and died, with causes of death still under investigation; officials also investigated an additional non-fatal case from August 2024. On August 5, 2025 health officials confirmed water samples from one building tested positive for Legionella, and residents were supplied bottled water during remediation.
