What happened

The Vermont Department of Health investigated an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease at The Village at Cedar Hill, part of the Cedar Hill Continuing Care Community in Windsor, Vermont. A Health Department Health Advisory issued January 29, 2025 reported six cases associated with the facility and stated that exposure to Legionella within the facility may have occurred as recently as January 20, 2025. One resident died. The facility's water system was identified as the source, and the facility implemented measures to reduce the risk of further exposure. The Health Department described it as the state's first facility outbreak in five years. Figures are provisional.
