What happened
Large community outbreak in north central Marshalltown; 74 cases and 2 deaths in total. CDC assisted Iowa HHS. Twelve north-central Marshalltown business centers with cooling towers were identified as the most likely exposure sites, and multiple cooling towers were tested and remediated, but no source was ever confirmed. Marshall County Public Health declared the outbreak over on October 23, 2025, two incubation periods after the last case was reported on September 25, 2025.
