What happened

The Franklin County Health Department is investigating several confirmed cases of Legionnaires' disease in Franklin County (Frankfort), Kentucky, announced July 29, 2026. Health Department Director Judy Mattingly said the number of cases is low but unusual for this many to appear in such a short period. No exact case count has been released and no deaths have been reported. No source has been identified; the department's environmental and epidemiology teams are working with the Kentucky Department for Public Health to find a common exposure.
