What happened
The Illinois Department of Public Health and the DuPage County Health Department investigated a cluster of two Legionnaires' disease cases, with onsets within one month of each other, in people who were at or near the Alden Valley Ridge Rehabilitation and Health Center, a skilled nursing facility in Bloomingdale, Illinois. IDPH environmental staff sampled the facility on September 22, 2025 and detected Legionella pneumophila in samples from a case's room and from the facility's cooling tower. IDPH imposed water restrictions and ordered a comprehensive water-system assessment and remediation testing. Both individuals recovered.
